The Association of Nepalese Mathematicians in America (ANMA) is a not-for-profit educational and research oriented organization, formed by Nepalese mathematicians and statisticians in the United States of America, with goals to gather and disseminate accomplishments and experiences in teaching and research of Nepalese mathematicians and statisticians in Nepal, the United States and around the world. Association of Nepalese Mathematicians in America (ANMA), Nepal Mathematics Centre (NMC), and Chitwan Mathematical Society (CMS)  jointly organized a training program on

"A Short Course on Curve Tracing"

in Lalitpur  and Bharatpur, Nepal. Mathematics educators and graduate students were invited. Program videos are now available. Read more. 

 

Math News and Highlights

 

 Mathematics Awareness Month  April is the Mathematics Awareness Month. The American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics announce that the theme of Mathematics Awareness Month 2011 is "Unraveling Complex Systems". 2011 Abel Prize  The Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters announces that John Willard Milnor, Professor of Mathematics at Stony Brook University, New York, is awarded the "2011 Abel Prize" for pioneering discoveries in topology, geometry and algebra. The Abel prize carries a cash award of NOK 6,000,000 (nearly US $ 1 million). Read more.

 

Field Medal Four 2010  Fields Medalists were announced on August 19 at the international congress of Mathematics in Hyderabad, India: Cedric Villani of the Henri Poincare Institute in Paris, Stanislav Smirnov of the University of Geneva, Ngo Bao Chau of the University of Paris XI and Elon Lindenstrauss of the Hebrew University of Jerusalam.
